2000 years of freedom and honor the Cochin Jews of India. 97. 1 videodisc (80 min.). Jews arrived in India over 1900 years ago. Throughout the years, though deeply loyal to India, they prayed for their return to Zion. Film captures the conflicting emotions of two generations of Cochini Jews. The elderly, heartbroken by the mass emigration of the younger generation to Israel, and their children, who as young parents could only envision a bright future as Jews in Israel. Explores the religious, cultural and economic life of the Cochini Jews in the native India and also follows the younger generation to a new life as Israelis. DVD 5907
3 times divorced. 2007. 1 videodisc (74 min.). Khitam, a Gaza-born Palestinian woman, was married off in an arranged match to an Israeli Palestinian, followed him to Israel and bore him six children. When her husband divorced her in absentia in the Sharia Muslim court and gained custody of the children, Khitam was left with nothing. She cannot contact her children, has no property and no citizenship. Although married to an Israeli, a draconian law passed in 2002 barring any Palestinian from gaining Israeli citizenship has made her an illegal resident there. Now she is out on a dual battle, the most crucial of her life: against the court which always rules in favor of the husband, and against the state in a last-ditch effort to gain citizenship and reunite with her children. The 50 years war Israel and the Arabs. 2000. 2 videodiscs (300 min.). Begins with the 1947 U.N. decision to partition Palestine and charts the ensuing half-century of enmity, warfare, mediation and negotiations. Includes interviews and news clips of heads of state and other military and intelligence leaders. Episodes on the first disc cover Israel's struggle for statehood, including the victories against Arab armies in 1948 and 1967, and the history of the Palestinian Liberation Organization. The concluding program looks at the Yom Kippur War in 1973, the Camp David peace accord in 1978, the start of the Palestinian "Intifada" uprising in 1987, the Oslo agreement in 1993, and the current attempts to consolidate a shaky reconciliation. Tells how and why 750,000 Palestinian Arabs became refugees by the end of the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948. Includes interviews with Palestinians and Israelis. DVD 4846
Al Quds fi yawm akhar Jerusalem, another day : Rana's wedding. 2007. 1 videodisc (86 min.). A Palestinian girl has only 10 hours to both find and marry her boyfriend in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. The uncertainty of her father's approval adds further difficulty. Feature film. HU DVD 6176
Alezmen alebaqey = The time that remains. 2012. 1 videodisc (109 min.). A humorous, heartbreaking film that explores life among the Israeli Arab community, shot largely in homes and places in which Elia Suleiman's family once lived. Inspired by his father's diaries, letters his mother sent to family members who had fled the Israeli occupation, and the director's own recollections, the film recounts the saga of the filmmaker's family in subtly hilarious vignettes. American radical the trials of Norman Finkelstein. 2009. 1 videodisc (89 min.). A definitive documentary about American academic Norman Finkelstein, a devoted son of holocaust survivors, ardent critic of U.S. and Israeli Mid-East policy, and author of five provocative books, including The Holocaust Industry. Finkelstein has been steadfastly at the center of many intractable controversies, including the recent denial of his tenure at DePaul University. He's called a lunatic and a self-hating Jew by some and an inspirational street-fighting revolutionary by others. DVD 7882
Amreeka. 2009. 1 videodisc (96 min.). Muna Farah, a Palestinian single mom, struggles to maintain her optimistic spirit in the daily grind of intimidating West Bank checkpoints, the constant nagging of a controlling mother, and the haunting shadows of a failed marriage. Everything changes one day when she receives a letter informing her that her family has been granted a U.S. green card, and she moves with her teenage son to small town Illinois. Feature film. Another side of peace. 2005. 1 videodisc [58 min.]. Another Side of Peace follows an Israeli man's efforts to reach reconciliation and to come to terms with the deaths of his sons. He works with his Palestinian partners to connect with other bereaved families in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Arab Labor the complete first season. 2008. 2 videodiscs (300 min.). In Fall 2008, Link TV presented the U.S. broadcast premiere of the controversial hit Israeli comedy series Arab Labor (Avoda Aravit). Created by Sayed Kashua, a 32-year-old Israeli-born Palestinian journalist, Arab Labor (translated from the Hebrew "Avoda Aravit" which colloquially implies "shoddy or second-rate work") focuses on Amjad, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen in search of his identity as he seeks high status in the society into which he was born but where his car is searched everyday when he drives from his neighborhood to his job at a newspaper in Jerusalem. Poking fun at the cultural divide, Kashua and his characters play on religious, cultural and political differences to daringly depict the mixed society that is Israel. This show marked a milestone on Israeli television as the first program to present Palestinian characters speaking Arabic on primetime. Arab Labor has generated great controversy between Arab and Israeli media and Link TV is premiering the program to the U.S. television audience in order to offer a fresh perspective on Israeli-Palestinian cultural friction while presenting an unbelievably entertaining show that has made an international splash.-- www.linktv.org/arablabor. At the edge of modern Israel and the ancient Bedouin way of life, three dramatic encounters between two very different societies are brought forth. Beautiful music In search of peace. 2007. The Simon Wiesenthal Center collection. 1 videodisc (112 min.). Beautiful music (38 min.): The remarkable story of Devorah Schramm, an American-born, Orthodox Jewish pianist and composer who, after relocating to Israel, taught piano to a 9-year old blind and autistic Palestinian girl, Rasha Hamid, in the worst days of the Intifada. In search of peace (74 min.): Chronicles the first two decades of Israel's existence, offering new insights on the origins of the Middle East conflict. The film weaves together historical narrative, anecdotes and dramatic personal stories, drawing on interviews with the leaders who helped make that history. HU DVD 5778
The Bible unearthed The making of a religion. 2005. 1 videodisc (208 min.). Attempts to determine how much of the Bible is based on historical events by reviewing the most recent archeological findings. DVD 7516
Bikur ha-Tizmoret = The band's visit. 2008. 1 videodisc (87 min.). The Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra arrives in Israel from Egypt for a cultural event. Once there, they find the expected delegation is not there to meet them. Arrangements to get to their destination of Petah Tiqva have not been taken care of either. They find their own ride and arrive instead at the remote town of Beit Hatikva. Stuck there until the next morning's bus, the band, lead by the repressed Tawfiq Zacharaya, gets help from the worldly lunch owner, Dina, who offers to put them up for the night. As the band settles in the best it can, each of the members attempts to get along with the natives in their own way. What follows is a special night of quiet happenings and confessions as the band makes its own impact on the town and the town on them. Feature film. HU DVD 2755
Bubot niyar = Paper dolls. 2006. 1 videodisc (80 min.). After closing the border to Palestinian workers, Israeli authorities enticed foreigners to fill gaps in the job market. Filipinos in various stages of gender transition came as caregivers to elderly, orthodox Jewish men, but are still outsiders. DVD 4336
Budrus. 2011. 1 videodisc (82 min.). They not only save the village, but the Barrier is pushed back behind the Green Line into No Man's Land. In the process, Ayed and Iltezam unleash an inspiring, yet little-known, movement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories that is still gaining ground today. In an action-filled documentary featuring archival footage of this movement from its infancy, Budrus will inspire and challenge audiences worldwide. DVD 8309
Campfire. 2005. Film Movement series. 1 videodisc (96 min.). A 42 year-old widowed mother of two teenage daughters wants to join the founding group of a new settlement in the West bank. This is about their struggles with the acceptance committee and their living as an outcast in the settlement. Feature film. DVD 4119
Can you hear me? : Israeli and Palestinian women fight for peace . 2006. 1 videodisc (48 min.). A documentary that focuses on several Israeli women's groups committed to the co-existence of Israel and Palestine, focusing on two individuals on opposite sides in the peace movement. DVD 2710
Le cerf-volant Tayyara min warrak. 2008. 1 videodisc (88 min.). Set in the Druze area of the Golan Heights known as the Valley of Laments and Tears, the story is a combination coming of age struggle for freedom and amplified "Romeo and Juliet." The scenario matching 15-year old Lamia (Flavia Bechara) with 17-year old Israeli soldier Youssef (Maher Bsaibes) fits well with Sabbag's tale of lovers living in limbo on the Israeli-Lebanese border. Both are Druze, separated by arbitrary physical boundaries and long-standing religious and cultural traditions. Feature film. HU DVD 9297
Changemakers. 2008. 1 videodisc (7 min.). Examines the PeacePlayers organization, which uses basketball to build bridges of understanding, communication and peace between Israeli and Palestinian children. The short film interviewed PeacePlayer participants while on a trip to the United States. DVD 9216
Checkpoint. 2005. 1 videodisc (79 min.). Over three million Palestinians live in The West Bank and Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli military authority since 1967. This documents the impact of the enforced boundaries know as "checkpoints" on the Israeli border, the border guards drafted to monitor them and the Palestinian citizens who must pass through them daily. The chosen. 2010. 1 videodisc (107 min.). The story of two teenage boys who become best friends despite huge differences in their upbringing. Danny is the son of an orthodox Hasidic Rabbi. Reuven comes from a progressive Jewish family whose father stands at the forefront of the battle for Israeli statehood. Danny's every moment is devoted to religious study, while Reuven plays jazz piano and is intensely interested in the changing world around him. Eid milad Laila Laila's birthday. 2010. 1 videodisc (72 min.). 'At eight o'clock, it's Laila's birthday, okay?' Palestinian judge turned cab driver Abu's wife reminds her husband. On his young daughter's birthday, Abu faces a nerve-wracking shift in a Ramallah yellow cab, armed only with an ex-jurist's misplaced pride, a father's loyalty, and a sticker reminding passengers that smoking and carrying AK-47's are prohibited. Einayim Petukhoth = Eyes wide open. 2010. 1 videodisc (90 min.). Aaron, a butcher and devout family man in Jerusalem's ultraorthodox Jewish community, has his quiet life interrupted when Erzi, a handsome, young Yeshiva student, happens on his shop. Intrigued by the young man, Aaron offers Erzi a job and becomes his friend and mentor. The two grow closer, and soon other feelings surface. As their forbidden desire grows, Aaron begins to neglect his business and his family. But guilt, torment, and pressure from the community lead him to make a radical decision. Feature film. Elusive peace: Israel and the Arabs. 2005. 1 videodisc (150 min.). President Clinton, Yasser Arafat, the Israeli Prime Ministers, their generals and advisors, and those behind the suicide bombs and assassinations tell what happened behind closed doors as peace talks gave way. DVD 7949
Encounter point. 2007. 1 videodisc (85 min.). Created by a Palestinian, Israeli, North and South American team, this film tells the story of an Israeli settler, a Palestinian ex-prisoner, a bereaved Israeli mother and a wounded Palestinian bereaved brother who risk their safety and public standing to press for an end to the conflict. They are at the vanguard of a movement to push Palestinian and Israeli societies to a tipping point, forging a new consensus for nonviolence and peace. Perhaps years from now, their actions will be recognized as a catalyst for constructive change in the region. Feature film. DVD 6859

Exodus. 2002. 1 videodisc (208 min.). Story of the Jewish struggle for independence and the birth of the nation of Israel, beginning with the exodus from a Cypriot detention camp of a shipload of courageous European Jews heading to Israel aboard a weathered freighter. Feature film. HU DVD 5786
Exodus 1947 the ship that launched a nation. 96. 1 videodisc (60 min.). After WWII, a group of private American citizens banded together in a clandestine effort to transport Holocaust survivors to Palestine. The British, who governed Palestine at the time, were determined to keep them out. DVD 7331
The fence. 2004. 1 videodisc (46 min.). A documentary of families on opposing sides of the security barrier in the Jenin-Afula area. Israel claims that the security barrier was erected to protect civilians on the periphery of the West Bank - communities that have been regularly targeted by suicide bombers. But the fence follows a controversial route - often well within the boundaries of the occupied Palestinian territories - and forms a one-sided border, unilaterally policed by Israeli soldiers. The Palestinians perceive the fence as prison walls that have come to symbolize the greatest obstacle yet in their pursuit of freedom and self-determination under Israeli occupation. DVD 1567

Bosnia, the men that got away: Ten years after the end of the war in Bosnia, the two men most responsible for carrying out Milosevec's ethnic cleansing -- former Bosnian Serb President Radovan Karadzic and his top general Ratko Mladic -- are still at large. Reporter Jennifer Glasse travels to Bosnia, Serbia and the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague to find out why. Israel, the unexpected candidate: In the wake of an electoral victory by the militant group Hamas and with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in a deep coma, acting prime minister Ehud Olmert was widely considered to be the successor to Sharon. Gaza Strip. 2002. 1 videodisc (74 min.). American filmmaker James Longley follows a range of Palestinian Arabs living in the Gaza Strip and events following the election of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, including the first major armed incursion by the Israeli Army (IDF) forces in spring 2001. Filmed almost entirely in the vérite style without narration and with little explanation, this documentary focuses on ordinary Palestinians rather than politicians presenting a rare look inside the stark realities of Palestinian life and death under Israeli military occupation. God's Warriors is a three-part CNN documentary produced by Christiane Amanpour in which she compares the rise of religious fundamentalism as a political force in the world. The documentary focuses on the three major monotheistic religions of the world, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. DVD 3089-3091
ha-Hesder = Time of favor. 2002. 1 videodisc (101 min.). A taut thriller about the tense relationship between the orthodox nationalists and the Israeli military in the West Bank. Both a politico-psychological drama and a love story between a passionate woman and two best friends. Raises questions of faith to one's religion, duty to one's nation, and love for oneself. Ha-Kalah ha-Surit = The Syrian bride. 2006. 1 videodisc (97 min.). Mona's wedding day may be the saddest day of her life. Once she crosses the border between Israel and Syria to get married, she will never be allowed back to her family in the Golan Heights. Feature film. HU DVD 2634
ha-Kayits shel Aviyah = Aviya's summer. 2005. 1 videodisc (91 min.). Presents Gila Almagor's autobiographical film about a Holocaust survivor who immigrates with her daughter to the newly founded Israeli state. Aviya is a spunky 10 old year girl who, like her mother, is a survivor in the face of persecution. Feature film. DVD 9686
Hamas the untold story. 2008. 1 videodisc (49 min.). "Produced with unprecedented access to Hamas and its operation, this program takes viewers inside Gaza's Islamic fundamentalist government in the months following its civil war against Fatah. The film observes Hamas leaders as they struggle to shape policy and follows a former militant who now heads up an Executive Force police unit -- carrying out orders he doesn't agree with. Archival footage and interviews from earlier years are also included, creating a historical context in which the emergence of Hamas, as well as the problems of governance it now faces, can be examined and discussed. The Holy land. 2004. 1 videodisc (101 min.). Set in Jerusalem, The Holy Land is a story of Mendy, a young rabbinical student who is restless to learn about the bigger world. On the unconventional advice of his teacher, Mendy visits a brothel in order to exhaust his lust and restlessness, but instead falls in love with a Russian prostitute, Sasha. Mendy plummets further when he discovers Mike's Place, a bar on the edge of society run by an American expatriate, where Muslims, Christians and Jews all mingle to unseen ends. Feature film.
