Amintiri din epoca de aur = Tales from the golden age: Romanian urban myths of the '80s. 2009.  1 videodisc (141 min.). "The final fifteen years of the Ceausescu regime were the worst in Romania's history. Nonetheless, the propaganda machine of that time relentlessly referred to that period as the country's 'golden age'. Using the moniker as a starting point, Tales from the Golden Age spins the most popular, comic and bizarre urban legends from that harrowing period into a hilariously surreal omnibus film."--Container.  DVD 10651

Autobiografia lui Nicolae Ceau sescu = The autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu. 2010.  1 videodisc (180 min.). Presents the rise and fall of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceau sescu via propaganda footage. DVD 2856

On a bustling Paris street corner, four separate lives intersect, interweaving the stories of a promising actress, her photojournalist boyfriend, a teacher of African descent, and a Romanian illegal immigrant. A portrait of life in a fractured, lonely world.  DVD 5146

Cum mi-am petrecut sfarsitul lumii = The way I spent the end of the world. 2006.  Film movement series: Film Movement series.  1 videodisc (106 min.). The last man in Brooklyn: The year is 2092.  The world has torn itself apart with nuclear weapons. In what's left of Brooklyn, New York, two men live a lonely coexistence. One is scarred by the searing radiation of atomic bombs, the other a miraculously unscathed drifter bent on cruelty for his own foul pleasure.  Then, SHE came along. The way I spent the end of the world: Bucharest 1989, the last year of Ceausescu's dictatorship. Eva, 17, lives with her parents and her 7 year-old brother Lalalilu. One day at school, Eva and her boyfriend accidentally break a bust of Ceausescu. They are forced to confess their crime before a disciplinary committee. Eva is expelled from school and transferred to a reformatory establishment. There she meets Andrei and decides to escape Romania with him. Lalalilu is more and more convinced that Ceausescu is the main reason for Eva's decision to leave. So, with his friends from school, he devises a plan to kill the dictator.  DVD 3057

Eu când vreau sa fluier, fluier = If I want to whistle, I whistle. 2010.  Film Movement series: Film Movement series.  1 videodisc (93 min.). Silviu has only two weeks left before his release from a hostile juvenile detention center. But when his mother, who abandoned him long ago, returns to take his younger brother away--a brother Silviu raised like a son--those two weeks become an eternity. While his outcries for help fall on deaf ears, he is introduced to a beautiful social worker that he can only dream of being close to. Faced with a slew of conflicting emotions and wild with desperation, Silviu is driven to a surprising act of defiance as he makes a last grasp for freedom.  DVD 10569

On the sixteenth year anniversary of the fall of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, a local anchorman of a nearby provincial town invites two of his acquaintances to share their moments of revolutionary glory on his talk show. One is an impish, insightful retiree who sometimes poses as Santa Claus, the other a henpecked, hard-drinking teacher who has just devoted his entire salary to his drinking debts. Together they will remember the day when they stormed their town hall calling "down with Ceausescu." Or did they?  DVD 5109

Gadjo dilo = Crazy stranger. 1997.  1 videodisc (97 min.). A young French man, in search of a legendary Gypsy singer, is taken in by a Gypsy community in Romania where he learns their ways of talking, drinking, dancing, cursing and screwing.  DVD 5841

Marti, dupa craciun = Tuesday, after Christmas. 2010.  1 videodisc (99 min.). In the days leading up to Christmas, a married man forces himself to choose between his wife and his mistress. A sharply observed, deeply felt drama, showcasing the strengths of current Romanian cinema in its beautifully calibrated performances, expert craftsmanship, and dazzling technical mastery.  DVD 10381

Moartea domnului Lazarescu = Death of Mr. Lazarescu. 2005.  1 videodisc (153 min.). A 60-ish widower, living alone with his cats, feels sick enough one evening to call an ambulance. This is the beginning of his Dantesque odyssey deep into the bowels of a big city medical establishment.  DVD 186

Politist, adjectiv = Police, adjective. 2009.  The KimStim collection: KimStim collection.  1 videodisc (115 min.). Cristi is a young undercover cop who undergoes a crisis of conscience when he is pressured to arrest a teenager who offers hash to classmates. Not wanting to ruin the life of a young man he considers merely irresponsible, Cristi must either allow the arrest to weigh on his conscience or face censure by his serious superior, for whom the word 'conscience' has an entirely different meaning.  DVD 9147
