Evaluating Information

Is the information I've found valid and reliable? Here are some questions to ask to help you:

1. Who wrote it? (what are the author's credentials or possible sources of bias?)

2.Where does the information appear? (journal, magazine, newspaper, organizational website, etc.)

3. How recent is it? (is the information outdated?)

4. Are new concepts and/or information supported? (Is methodology explained? Has it been peer-reviewed?)

5.  Are old ideas cited? (is the information traceable?)

6. How is this person/research funded? (organization, corporation, grants, etc.)
