AU Library's Digital Research and Inquiry Lab has created this collection of self-learning guides, tutorials, and recorded webinars for a variety of digital research tools. These are organized by the type of project you might like to undertake. Click on the type of project from the menu on the left to access the resources.

General Resources

The Programming Historian publishes free, beginner-level tutorials of tools, techniques, and workflows for digital research. The tutorials are written for humanists of all kinds and each tutorial is peer-reviewed for accuracy. Topics include data manipulation, network analysis, distant reading, and more.

Code Academy offers numerous free courses that help beginners learn coding languages, data visualization techniques and tools, and web development.

School of Data offers a set of Data Essentials Courses, which include free courses on finding, using, cleaning, and presenting data. 

The AU Library has collected a guide to Free and Open Source Software that you can use to create digital publications of your research.
