Digital research projects offer unique learning opportunities for students to develop and curate digital knowledge and information. Because of the amount of work required, digital research projects are often designed as a larger research project due towards the end of the semester, but depending on course goals and content could take any form.
Some examples of potential student digital research projects include:
- Digital collections and exhibits of artifacts and primary sources
- Interactive websites or databases
- Blogs and other digital journals or reflections
- Video projects and mini documentaries
- Academic podcasts
- Oral histories
- Digital zines
- 3D printing
- Craft fabrication
- Mapping
- Research using complex data analysis and/or computational methods
These are just a few of the possibilities of what students can create; we’re happy to talk through options to support student learning by incorporating digital research into your classes. Please check out our digital research showcase for some more examples of student work.
