Le nozze di Figaro. 2008. 1 Streaming video (202 min.). Preparing for their wedding, the valet Figaro learns from the maid Susanna that their philandering employer, Count Almaviva, has designs on her. In her boudoir, the Countess laments her husband's waning love but plots to chasten him, encouraged by Figaro and Susanna. Susanna leads the Count on with promises of a rendezvous in the garden. Alone later that day, Susanna rhapsodizes on her love for Figaro, but he, overhearing, thinks she means the Count. Almaviva chases Cherubino away and sends his wife, who he thinks is Susanna, to an arbor, to which he follows. By now Figaro understands the joke and, joining the fun, makes exaggerated love to Susanna in her Countess disguise. The Count returns, seeing, or so he thinks, Figaro with his wife. Outraged, he calls everyone to witness his judgment, but now the real Countess appears and reveals the ruse. Grasping the truth at last, the Count begs her pardon. Streaming video.

Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio. 2007. 1 Streaming video (151 min.). Verdi's first published opera, written in his 20s, already shows the instinctive melodic gift and heightened sense of drama which was to make him a giant among composers of grand opera. Set in 13th century Italy, Oberto was first performed at La Scala, Milan in 1839, more than 50 years before Verdi's last opera was premiered there. Streaming video.

Stiffelio. 2008. 1 Streaming video (122 min.). Stiffelio, a pastor persecuted for his beliefs, takes refuge in the castle of his follower Count Stankar and marries Lina, the Count's daughter. When Lina is unfaithful to him and Stankar desires vengeance, Stiffelio intervenes, insisting that a Christian is bound to forgive, and accepts his wife's contrition. Streaming video.
