The birth of a nation. Alpha Video classics. 2005. 1 videodisc (192 min.). Recounts the events leading up to and immediately fter the Civil War. Ben Cameron, a brave yet disillusioned Confederate soldier, creates a covert group of impassioned Southerners called the Ku Klux Klan as an answer to the supposed problem of the rise and rule of blacks and carpetbaggers. Bent on revenge, Ben leads his KKK followers in a war to suppress the black threat to white society, ultimately restoring "order" to his beloved South. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 640

Cold Mountain. 2004. 2 videodiscs (153 min.). Inman, a young Confederate soldier, who is injured during the explosive 1864 battle of Petersburg, Virginia, is struggling to make his way home to Cold Mountain, NC, where his beloved Ada awaits him. In Inman's absence, Ada befriends Ruby, who helps her keep up her late father's farm. Meanwhile, in his travels, Inman encounters a menagerie of interesting and colorful characters. Glory. 1997. 1 videodisc (ca. 117 min.). Two idealistic young Bostonians lead the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, America's first Black regiment in the Civil War. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 1171

Gods and generals. 2003. 1 videodisc (219 min.). Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain left behind a quiet life and a career as a college professor to fight for the Union. Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson was a man of great religious faith who served in the defense of the Confederacy. And Gen. Robert E. Lee, who led the Confederate army, was a man who was forced to choose between his loyalty to the United States and his love of the Southern states where he was born and raised. As Chamberlain, Jackson, and Lee are followed through the declaration of war and the battles at Manassas, Antietam, Frederickburg, and Chancellorsville. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 625

Gone with the wind. 2005. 2 videodiscs (235 min.). An epic story of the South's fight to maintain it's way of life during the Civil War years. It starts out as Scarlett O'Hara and her family are amongst the ladies and "chivalrous" gentlemen at the Twelve Oaks Plantation's ball before the Civil War begins. How Scarlett's love for one man keeps her from seeing the love that another man truly has for her. As the South finally crumbles down around her, Scarlett devises a way to overcome starvation in order save herself and her family. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 9

The horse soldiers. Western legends. 2001. 1 videodisc (120 min.). Colonel Marlowe is in command of a motley assortment of 1200 Union volunteers whose task-- and apparent suicide mission-- is to infiltrate 300 miles of Southern territory and destroy the most strategic rail route in the Confederacy. Marlowe's life is complicated by his ferocious running feud with the company's surgeon, Major Kendall. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 304

Major Dundee. 2005. 1 videodisc (136 min.). A Union major late in the Civil War takes it upon himself to punish a band of Apaches who murdered a ranch family and fled into Mexico. Ride with the devil. 2000. 1 videodisc (139 min.). In a no man's land on the Missouri/Kansas border, a staunch loyalist, an immigrant's son, a freed slave and a young widow form an unlikely friendship as they learn how to survive during the Civil War, in a place without rules. Rocky mountain. Errol Flynn collection. 2008. 1 videodisc (83 min.). In 1865, Robert E. Lee, in a last-ditch bid to turn the tide of the Civil War, wants the West. Lafe Barstow's task is to get it. He leads a band of Confederates to California to enlist insurrectionists. But another war comes to a head in the West. Marauding Shoshones may prove to be an even fiercer foe than the Union Army. The undefeated. 2003. 1 videodisc (118 min.). At the end of the Civil War, Union Cavalry officer John Henry Thomas (John Wayne) and former Confederate Colonel James Langdon (Rock Hudson) lead their men into Mexico to begin a new life. Caught between Mexican rebels and the Emperor's forces, they find themselves fighting side by side and must forge an uneasy friendship in order to survive. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 7633

Virginia City. Errol Flynn collection. 2008. 1 videodisc (121 min.). It's 1864 and the Confederacy's last hope is an infusion of gold to buy war materials. The gold is available, if someone can smuggle it from a town far west of all the fighting - Virginia City, Nevada.
