Crna macka, beli macor = Black cat, white cat. 2004, 1 videodisc (135 min.). Grga Pitic and Zarije Destanov are two old friends--and rivals--who haven't seen each other in years. ... After Matko, Grga's low-life son, botches a train robbery and is double-crossed into debt, he is obliged to force his son into an arranged marriage to one of Zarije's kin. As the wedding day approaches--hightlighted by the long-anticipated reunion between Grga and Zarije--family and friends must cope with betrayals, lust, mishaps, death, farm animals, and, ultimately, the pursuit of true love and enduring friendship. Dom za vešanje : ljubavni film = Time of the gypsies : a love movie. 1998, 1 videodisc (142 min.). A Gypsy teenager with the ability to move objects with his mind is convinced by a petty crook to leave his grandmother and girlfriend to make quick cash. DVD 12290.
Dusan Makavejev = Free radical. 2009, 3 videodiscs (225 min.). Man is not a bird: A copper-factory town in the mountains serves as the unexpected site for a strange brew of sex, hypnosis, and Beethoven. Love affair: The romance between a young telephonist and a rat exterminator lays the groundwork for a tragic, funny, and modern look at relationships in sixties Belgrade. Innocence unprotected: One of Yugoslavia's most infamous lost films becomes the canvas on which Makavejev paints a violent national history and an absurd biography of a real-life escape artist and acrobat. Ljubavni sluécaj ili tragedija sluézbenice PTT = Love affair, or the case of the missing switchboard operator. 2009, 1 videodisc (68 min.). When a young telephonist falls in love with a middle-aged rodent sanitation specialist, a time-shifting exploration of love and freedom is born. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 9865.
Nevinost bez zaéstite = Innocence unprotected. 2009, 1 videodisc (79 min.). Makavejev uses Dragoljub Aleksic (an acrobat, locksmith, and escape artist) as the center-piece for this look at the history of his country. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 9866.
Parada = The parade. 1 videodisc (116 min.). "A group of gay activists in Belgrade strikes a tense alliance with Limun, a Serbian crime boss, whose fiancée demands an extravagant wedding that only struggling gay theater director Mirko and his friends can provide. In exchange, macho Limun reluctantly agrees to provide security for the group's Pride parade. It's a tall order: previous attempts to march met with mass violence from right-wing skinheads. When Limun's gang balks at the assignment, he recruits a band of former Balkan war combatants, now dear friends, who will stand up to the aggressors Seven Samurai style ..." Sjaj u ocima = Loving glances. 2003, 1 videodisc (97 min.). A lovely and funny romantic fantasy from Belgrade, this bittersweet film about lost loves and dating dilemmas is sublimely sexy and surreal. HOME USE COLLECTION DVD 9986.
Underground. 1995, 1 videodisc (167 min.). A tragicomedy about love, friendship, betrayal, manipulation and lies. Deals with the conflicts of Yugoslav history of the past fifty years. The story starts from an underground manufacture of weapons of Belgrade, during WWII. The black marketeer who smuggles the weapons to partisans forgets to mention to the workers that the war is over, and they keep producing. 50 years later, they become suspicious, and break out of their underground "shelter"--Only to convince themselves that the guy was right: the war is still going on. DVD 1342.
