Curbside Pickup

The purpose of this guide is to explain the various curbside pickup options available to our patrons.

Book Pickup Instructions

Now that curbside pickup has started, we ask that you start the request process like you normally would by going to the AU Library homepage at

Note: Music Library items are eligible for curbside pickup and will follow the same process found here. 


Once you have chosen where you want to search for books, type in the title you are looking for. 

Note: There may be significant delays in processing items from the consortium. Feel free to contact or if you have any questions about consortium materials. 




When you find your title, click on the record to open it.


Note: If you are not logged into your My Library Account, you will see a yellow banner and be prompted to sign in before you can place your request. Use your portal credentials as you would for any normal login. 

Now that you are signed in, you can click the "Curbside pickup request" link. 


Once your request has successfully been placed, AU Library Staff will pull the material and you will receive an email notification that it is now on the holdshelf. Before the pandemic, this used to signal that the book was ready for you to checkout from the Circulation Desk. Now, there is a link inside this email letting you set up your curbside pickup time. 

Note: pickup appointments start 24 hours after you click the link in your email. We are not currently able to offer same day pickups, so please plan your appointment time carefully. 


Clicking that link will take you to a new window where you can choose a 30 minute interval that works for you to come to campus and pickup your books. 

Note: Clicking "Submit Times" on the bottom DOES NOT confirm your pickup time. 



Click continue and then fill out the booking form with your name, email, AU ID number, and if you are picking the books up for yourself or someone else.



Note: If you are picking up for someone else, you must have a proxy agreement established with them. If you do not, library staff will not be able to check these items out and they will not be ready for pickup. You can find the Proxy Agreement here. Please email the filled out form to Once this is established, you will be prompted to enter their information in the booking form. 

After you click submit, your curbside pickup has been confirmed! You will also receive an email confirmation and a reminder on the day of your pickup. 

We will package all items that you have waiting for you for your scheduled pickup. If you have several outstanding requests, we recommend waiting until more of your books have arrived before setting up your curbside pickup for your convenience. 

And that's it! We will have your materials checked out, packaged, and waiting on the table inside the vestibule for your scheduled pickup time.
