Course Reserve Textbook Collection

Introduction

We are able to provide the course reserve textbooks either as ebooks or through our Loaning Digital Course Reserves service. Please note there may be delays in providing access to these textbooks as not all titles eligible through the Loaning Digital Course Reserves service have been scanned. Staff are monitoring the requests Monday-Thursday 9am-10pm, Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 11am-6pm, Sunday 12pm-10pm (EDT). You will receive notifications within 30 minutes of submitting your request to give you more information on the status

Borrowing Digital Textbooks

Our physical collection is only available to borrow through the Loaning Digital Course Reserves service. You will have restricted access (no downloading, sharing or printing) to the title for 2 hours and is requested through the library's catalog. The service is a first come first serve as we are not able to grant access for specific times. If an item is in use, you will be placed on a wait list. Once it is available, you will receive access. Each time you would like to borrow the material, you will need to submit a new request.

Submitting Request

  • Select the book's catalog record and login using your AU credentials
  • Next click on the Borrow Digital Textbook link and submit your request

  • If the title is available to borrow, you will receive a link. (NOTE: The start of your 2 hours begins at the time the email is sent not when you click on the link)

  • If it is not available, you will receive notification with more information on the status of your request

 

Viewing Ebooks

You will be able to access an ebook either through the library's online catalog or the Course Reserves button in your Blackboard or Canvas course page. You have access to this title 24/7 but please not that not all books have unlimited access there are multiple ebooks that only allow for 3 concurrent users to view the item.

  • Select the catalog record for the book that says "Available Online"

  • Next click on the e-resources link in order to read the full text online

 

Course Reserves Button

  • Log into Blackboard or Canvas and open the specific course page
  • Click on the Course Reserves button

  • Next select "View Item" and you will be able to read the full text online
