Artificial Intelligence and Information Literacy - Instruction Toolkit: Home

This guide brings together some instructional materials created by American University Librarians for use in or out of the classroom.

Overview

This guide presents instructional tools created by American University Librarians to be used as part of information literacy instruction as was proposed in the final recommendations from the Artificial Intelligence Exploratory Working Group.  (The results are here: https://subjectguides.library.american.edu/lib-ai).  We recognize that this is a rapidly evolving domain and that many specifics can become outdated rapidly.  However, we have focused heavily on principles and intellectual content in our lessons.

It includes:

  • Videos that can be assigned
  • Powerpoints that can be used or modified
  • Exercises for use in the classroom
  • Other materials

The current toolkit includes instruction materials addressing:

1.  An overview of AI

2.  AI and the Knowledge Creation Process

3.  AI and Ethics

The Library Team creating these materials are:

  • Melissa Becher
  • Sarah Gilchrist
  • Natasha Griffin
  • Katie Hut
  • Meredith Konrad
  • Hannah Park
  • Gwendolyn Reece
