Instructions for registering for AU-sponsored account on washingtonpost.com

Already Have a Paid Digital Subscription?

If you have a Print + Digital subscription with your @american.edu email address, please send email to enterprisesolutions@washpost.com

If you have a Digital subscription, visit your account page via this link and check if your email address is Verified

  • If unverified, click 'Send verification email'
    • Click the link in the email to activate your subscription
  • If already verified (there won't be a prompt), go to the Subscription & Billing tab in My Post
    • Click 'Activate free digital access'

Access Washington Post after registering

After you have registered for a WashingtonPost.com account and activated digital access:

  • Visit https://www.washingtonpost.com
  • Sign in with your WashingtonPost.com credentials -- your @american.edu email address and the password you created

To view articles located in AU Library Search, log in to washingtonpost.com and search for the article title there.

Create a personal login for WashingtonPost.com

The library provides full access for current faculty, staff, and students to all content on WashingtonPost.com. To access that content, users must register for an individual, sponsored account with their university email address.
** Students should use their @american.edu email address to register to ensure they receive confirmation emails. **

ONLY American University current students, faculty, and staff may register for WashingtonPost.com.

  1. Visit washingtonpost.com and click on 'Sign in' in the upper right-hand corner
  2. Enter your @american.edu email address in the field
  3. Click on the 'Sign up' link at the bottom to register a new account
  4. After clicking on the 'Sign up' link at the bottom:
    1. Enter your @american.edu email address, accept the terms and click 'Continue'

       
    2. Create a password then click 'Create account'

       
  5. You will be prompted to provide optional profile information and topic and newsletter preferences
  6. Look for an email from The Washington Post <email@washingtonpost.com> with the subject 'Verify your email address' and click on the link to verify your account

Your subscription is now active.
