Intro to Digital Research for Students

This guide is for AU students and anyone interested in digital scholarship and humanities. This guides offers definitions, AU library tools on creating projects, along with other various programs and tools to gain skills in digital scholarship.

Resources on Citations

For in-depth information about citing other sources in your work, see the AU Library Citation Style Guide.

For help managing large numbers of citations for a project, check out a Citation Manager:

There are also citation generators, but you should still double-check these citations even with the help of a platform.

Citation Style for Different Projects

For a video or photo essay you will want to make sure you include a visual slide of your reference list not just for research but also for any audiovisual material used (songs, images, etc.). For a video essay make sure there is a long enough pause for each screen so your viewer has a chance to pause and read through your references.

For a podcast project, providing your reference list may depend on what the assignment prompt requests. However, you have a few options. They can be turned in by way of a separate document, in the same way you would for a written essay. Depending on what platform you publish your podcast on, you can include your reference list in the description box.
