Click & Collect

The purpose of this guide is to explain AU Library Circulation's Click & Collect Program.

Click & Collect

Thank you for your interest in how to acquire items through our Click & Collect Program! Although the Circulation and Course Reserves desk is open to patrons, we are continuing to offer a pickup service--now called Click & Collect. Please read through this guide for instructions on how to use Click & Collect to get your library materials.

Please note this service is limited to current AU students, staff, and faculty.

All items that you request from AU, the Consortium, and through Interlibrary Loan are eligible for Click & Collect pickup. So the best place to begin your search would be the library's homepage at american.edu/library

Once you choose the type of search you want to do, you can begin!

The search filter used here will show books available through the Consortium as well as at AU.

If you are prompted by a yellow banner to log in, please use your portal credentials to do so. You won't be able to request books until you authenticate into our system.

After you log in, you should see a "Request for pickup" button on the record.

Once your request goes through, library staff will pull, process, and, if necessary, send the book to our library. You will receive an email notification once the book is ready for you pick up at the Circulation Desk or through Click & Collect. We are pleased to offer Click & Collect appointments within two hours of receiving an email that your book has arrived in the library.

Clicking the link will redirect you to a different page where you can choose a slot to set up a pickup appointment.

Please note: clicking "Submit Times" DOES NOT confirm your appointment. You must fill out a form to complete the process!

You may be prompted to input your portal credentials again before you can fill out the form. Please be careful to put your correct AU ID number; we use that when checking out your materials before pickup.

Note: if you are picking up items for a someone else, you must have a signed proxy agreement with the library. Click here to fill out the form online or contact circulation@american.edu. We recommend leaving a note when doing a proxy pickup, just so we don't get items and names confused.

You'll receive an email confirmation once your appointment is scheduled:

And that's it! Your items will be waiting for you at your scheduled pickup time. Just grab them and go!

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at circulation@american.edu or ask via our Circulation Chat!
