External disc drives are available at the Circulation/Course Reserves desk. They can be used to watch DVDs if your laptop does not have an internal DVD drive.
Before you can watch a DVD, you must have player software installed on your laptop. If you do not already, below are instructions for installing VLC Player, one of the more common media players.
- Go to www.videolan.org/vlc/#download and download the app for your operating system.
- Install the VLC Media Player on your laptop.
- Plug in the external disc drive.
- Press the Open/Close button and insert the DVD.
- If the DVD does not automatically play, open the VLC Media Player from your desktop.
- Select Media > Open Disc
- Chose the DVD location and the disc should begin playing.
