Scholarly Resource Cancellations

In Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, the University Library undertook a collection review process, during which we closely analyzed and made cuts to our resources, in an effort to support the University’s overall budget mitigation efforts. These cuts were included among the University’s operational savings.

Most of the resources cancelled were continuing resources, that is, databases, journals and datasets, which account for over 90% of the Library’s collections budget. While it’s unfortunate to cut any resources, we strove to minimize long-term harm to our collection. We did so by ensuring equity across disciplines; prioritizing access over convenience; looking at usage and cost-per-use; reviewing the importance of each resource to curriculum, teaching, and scholarly research; and investigating how the resources align with our values as a university. In many instances, the same or similar information found in a resource that we canceled, can be accessed in another resource, as is outlined below.

The Library continues to prioritize our collections in the face of an uncertain budget climate through strong support from the University and effective collection management. 

This table contains a list of resources that the library will be discontinuing access to beginning July 2025. Please check the table for the names of these resources, last date to access them, as well as alternative resource suggestions provided by our subject specialist librarians.
