Creating Citation Alerts in Google Scholar

Alerts will let you know when the article of interest to you has been cited, so that you do not need to continually rerun the same searches. Alerts can only be run by article, not by author.

  1. After conducting your search, select the article you wish to receive future citations for.
  2. Next, click on Cited by.
  3. On the left side of the screen, select Create Alerts.
  4. Type in the email address you would like future citations sent to.
  5. You will receive a verification email asking you to confirm your alert.
