Request a Ballot by State

Registration:

Requesting a Ballot:

• Form to Request  a Ballot: https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/absentee-ballot-applications
  • For students who are outside the county where they live, select that as the reason.
  • Include copy of government issued picture ID with application
• Paper submission must be mailed in and received no later than 5 days before the election

Voting:

• Ballot must have two signed witnesses or a notary public:  For notary appointments, if you are a member of the AU community contact Gwendolyn Reece [greece@american.edu] and DO NOT SIGN until you are in front of the notary.
• Absentee Ballot must  be returned by hand no later 5 PM than 5 days  BEFORE the election to your Election Manager:  https://www.sos.alabama.gov/city-county-lookup/absentee-election-manager
• Absentee Ballots must be received by mail by the election.
