Acquisitions Procedures: Development/Gift Funds

Instructions for Development Funds

American University Library has several Dvelopment or Gift Funds set up that are used to purchase materials for the collection. Some of these funds are to be used only for purchasing books. These books are identified as gifts by a note in the catalog and our affixing special bookplates.  Once it has been determined that money from one of these funds will be used to purchase books, bookplates are made and sent to our book vendor, Coutts Ingrams. Coutts will affix the bookplates to approval books.  Once the books have arrived in the library, either Acquisitions staff or Cataloging staff will add a note to the 505 field with the bookplate inscription.
